Beth is the owner of the Family Speech Clinic. She is a registered member of the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). She is a member of the national association, Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC). Beth completed her undergraduate work in Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo. After working as a Kinesiologist, she attended the University of Toronto, where she completed her Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology in 1993. She worked for a year in Hamilton and then moved to Newmarket to work at Southlake Regional Health Centre with the in-patient team and the Children’s Treatment Network until 2023. Beth’s main focus has been the Family Speech Clinic since 1994.
Beth has been certified in the Hanen Early Language Stimulation Program as well as PROMPT. She is a Certified Facial Therapist. Beth studied in California to become qualified in Fiberendoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES). She has advanced training in the areas of Swallowing, Voice, Pediatric Feeding and Tethered Oral Tissues/Airway Function.
In addition to her work at the Family Speech Clinic, Beth is an Adjunct Lecturer and Clinical Educator for the Department of Speech Pathology in the School of Medicine at the University of Toronto.
To complement the Family Speech Clinic programs, Beth started the Family Speech Camp in 2000 as a way to provide children the opportunity to develop their speech and language skills in a dynamic group environment. The natural interactions between children and staff allow them to learn to transition their skills from the clinic environment to everyday situations.

Beth lives in Newmarket with her husband. She enjoys running, skiing, highland dancing, yoga and visiting her kids in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto.
Tina is our Office Manager and is also a Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) at the Family Speech Clinic. She completed her Bachelor of Arts with a double major in English and Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University. After navigating the corporate world for 10 years in marketing, sales and customer service, she decided to stop working full-time to take care of her three children. While home, each of Tina’s children required speech therapy for various issues, which is when she discovered her interest in speech therapy. In 2013, Tina graduated with honours from Georgian College receiving her Communicative Disorders Assistant diploma.
Tina loves the opportunity to meet, interact and enable the staff in support of all the clients at the Family Speech Clinic. She enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends, playing with her puppy Charlie and relaxing at her cottage with a good book on the dock.
Tricia is a Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA). She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario and completed her training as a CDA at Durham College. Tricia has been a part of the Family Speech team since 2009. Prior to her current position as a CDA, Tricia enjoyed working as a volunteer and student instructor at the Family Speech Camp (affiliated with the Family Speech Clinic).
Tricia has experience providing therapy for a variety of communication disorders including, articulation delays, receptive and expressive language difficulties, learning disabilities and autism. She enjoys working with a diverse group of clients, from young children to adults. Tricia is passionate about her work and is committed to helping individuals build strong communication skills.
Alex Fitton is a Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA). She completed her undergraduate studies at Glendon College of York University in 2015 where she graduated with a Specialized Honours B.A. in Linguistics and Language Studies. Alex went on to complete her post graduate studies with honours in the Communicative Disorders Assistant program at Georgian College. Alex has been a part of the Family Speech team since 2017! Alex’s love of children stemmed from her 4+ years working at a local childcare centre where she learned the value of educating through play. Prior to her current position as a CDA, Alex spent two summers volunteering at the Family Speech Camp alongside Beth and a variety of SLP students. This experience, as well as her school practicum at the Family Speech Clinic, allowed Alex to gain an abundance of experience providing assistance to children with speech and language needs. Alex enjoyed her camp experience so much that she took on the role of Camp Manager as of 2019. She plays a fundamental role ensuring a fun and educational three-week program every July. Alex also works as an assistant to Office Manager Tina to ensure the completion of managerial tasks. Alex enjoys the fast-paced environment and variety of roles she takes on in the clinic. Alex has experience providing therapy for a variety of communication disorders including, articulation delays, receptive and expressive language difficulties, learning disabilities, autism and is highly interested in the impacts of tethered oral tissues and airway concerns in her pediatric clientele. She enjoys working with a diverse group of clients, from young children to young adults. When she is not at work, Alex enjoys camping, hiking and spending time with family and friends. One of her main goals is to make a difference in the lives of others while promoting strong communication skills.
Alison is a registered Speech-Language Pathologist. She earned her Bachelor’s degree at McMaster University in the Cognitive Science of Language program, and then completed the Master of Health Science program in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Toronto.
Alison received speech therapy as a young child, which began her interest in speech-language pathology, and she has always been passionate about working with children. She is thrilled to be able to combine two of her favourite things in her position at the Family Speech Clinic. Alison enjoys working with children with language, literacy, articulation, fluency, and other communication needs. She is trained in level 1 PROMPT, and early language strategies presented by Hanen “It Takes Two to Talk” as well as in the Lidcombe Program for parents to encourage their child’s fluency.
Previously, Alison obtained practical experience with the Toronto and Durham District School Boards, and with speech and language camps in the City of Toronto. She also volunteered at the Family Speech Clinic and at Camp Inukshuk as a student, and is very excited to be joining the Clinic as an SLP.
Alison is certified with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) and is a member of the Ontario Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (OSLA). She feels extremely fortunate to be helping children to express themselves confidently and happily.
When not at work, Alison is an avid reader, and enjoys hockey and spending time with her family at their cottage.
Nicole is a registered Speech-Language Pathologist. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Honours Health Sciences at Wilfrid Laurier University. Nicole later went on to complete a Master of Health Science in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Toronto. She is currently registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). Nicole is trained in Hanen’s “It Takes Two to Talk” program, the Lidcombe program and the Fluency Plus program: “A Comprehensive Treatment Program for Persons who Stutter”, as well as Level 1 PROMPT.
Nicole is passionate about working with clients of all ages with a variety of communication disorders. She enjoys working with preschool and school-aged children with language, motor speech, articulation, fluency, and literacy concerns. Nicole is enthusiastic about collaborating with clients and their families to provide excellent communication services and is committed to helping enhance the quality of life of her clients! When Nicole is not at work, she enjoys gardening, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
Michelle is a registered Speech-Language Pathologist. She completed an Honours Specialization in Health Science with Biology at Western University, and went on to complete a Master of Clinical Science in Speech-Language Pathology at Western University. She is registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). Michelle is trained in Hanen’s “It Takes Two to Talk” program and Level 1 PROMPT.
Michelle is passionate about working with clients with a variety of communication needs. She enjoys working with preschool and school aged children with articulation, language, literacy, motor planning, and social communication needs. She has practical experience working with clients in both individual and group therapy. She leads our Social Skills Group sessions at the Clinic to work on pragmatic skills in a meaningful context. When Michelle is not at work, she enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.
Valerie Cavalieri is a registered Speech-Language Pathologist. She completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Education (Primary/Junior) at York University. She went on to complete a Master of Health Science at the University of Toronto. Valerie enjoys working with children with language, motor speech, articulation and early literacy needs. She is trained in level 1 PROMPT. Valerie is a registered member of the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists (CASLPO) and a member of the Ontario Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (OSLA).
Romina is a registered Speech-Language Pathologist. She completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree with High Distinction in Cognitive Science and Linguistics at the University of Toronto. She was also a research assistant on a child language acquisition project, where the team later presented their results at the national conference for the Canadian Linguistic Association (CLA). She subsequently completed her Master of Health Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Toronto. She served as one of two class representatives for our national association, Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC). Romina is a registered member of the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) and a member of SAC. She enjoys working with the paediatric population to support early literacy, articulation, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) goals.
Abbey is a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist. She completed her Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Applied Linguistics (Speech and Language Sciences) at Brock University. She went on to complete her Master of Clinical Science in Speech-Language Pathology at Western University. She is currently registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). Abbey is trained in Hanen’s “It Takes Two to Talk” program. As a high school student, Abbey completed a Co-operative Education Program at the Family Speech Clinic which solidified her passion for helping individuals with communication needs and inspired her to pursue a career as a Speech-Language Pathologist. Abbey is passionate about supporting preschool and school aged children with a variety of communication disorders. She enjoys working with children who have language, articulation, motor speech, and literacy needs. Abbey is dedicated to providing a family-centred approach in order to best support her client’s communication needs. When she is not at work, Abbey enjoys camping, hiking, cooking, and spending time with her two dogs.
Juliana is working as a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) as she awaits the completion of her CASLPO registration and can begin working as a Speech and Language Pathologist. She completed her Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Cognitive Science of Language at McMaster University. She went on to complete her Master of Science in Speech and Language Therapy at the University of Essex in England, UK. Juliana was seen by a Speech and Language Pathologist as a child and has always been interested in the profession. She later volunteered as a camp counsellor at the Family Speech Camp, which further solidified her passion and interest in this career. Juliana is passionate and dedicated to providing strength and play-based approaches while keeping a holistic and person-centred lens in her sessions. She enjoys working with all areas of communication as she continues to gain more experience and exposure to establish her particular interests. When Juliana is not at work, she enjoys playing sports, baking and cooking, being outdoors, and spending most of her time with friends and family.
Alexia is a Speech-Language Pathologist and registered member of the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). She is also a member of Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC).
Alexia earned her Bachelor of Arts with Honours degree in Linguistics from York University, as well as a certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). She went on to complete her Master of Health Science in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Toronto. Alexia is trained in Hanen’s “More Than Words” program and has educated herself in Hanen’s “It Takes Two to Talk” language facilitation strategies. She completed the “Digging Deeper: A practical, in-depth look at motor speech assessment and therapy” workshop through the Speech and Stuttering Institute, and supplemented her professional development of motor speech disorders by completing the “Motor Speech Training Program” through the Speech and Stuttering Institute. She regularly attends workshops and webinars to expand and deepen her knowledge in her current areas of clinical interest: articulation therapy, motor speech therapy, and school-age fluency therapy.
Alexia has always been passionate about working with children and most of her previous volunteer, work, and student internship experiences were with children. At the Family Speech Clinic, Alexia is able to combine her passion for speech-language pathology and working with children as she provides speech and language services to children of all ages with language, articulation, motor speech, and social communication needs. Alexia has a special interest and previous practical experience in working with children with autism spectrum disorder.
Some of Alexia’s other passions include anything Disney, spending time with family and friends, yoga, Zumba, and trips to Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Katelyn is a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist. She completed her Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Linguistics at the University of Toronto. She then went on to complete her Master of Health Science in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Toronto. She is currently registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).
While completing her undergraduate degree, Katelyn volunteered at the Aphasia Institute, which deepened her passion for assisting individuals with communication challenges and solidified her pursuit of this career. Her clinical practice is focused on addressing communication needs and swallowing disorders in clients across all ages.
When she is not at work, Katelyn enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to the gym, walking her dog, and watching hockey.
